Srinagar: To mark World Energy Conservation Day (WECD), an Indian Army patrol at Naugam organised an Energy Conservation Awareness Drive (ECAD) for the youth of Mawar Valley.
The Awareness Drive spread the message on the different ways of conserving energy for the future use. An event was organised for school students to deliver a short talk on energy conservation followed by creative drawings depicting the idea of conservation of energy through art. Energy conservation oath was also taken by the students during the event.
World Energy Conservation Day is celebrated on December 14 globally to highlight the importance of energy consumption and its use in our day-to-day life, its scarcity and its impact on the sustainability of global ecosystems. It focuses our attention on significant issues facing the future of mankind with respect to energy.
Energy conservation is the effort made to reduce the energy consumption by using less of an energy service. This can be achieved by using less energy for example, by driving less.
