LPG price hike impacts commercial users
New Delhi: Prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders have been revised upward with effect from 1 May, increasing by around ₹993 per cylinder. After the revision, the price in Delhi has reached ₹3,071.50 per cylinder. However, prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged, providing relief to household consumers.
City-wise price increases reported
The revision has impacted major metro cities significantly. In Mumbai, commercial LPG cylinder prices have increased from ₹2,031 to ₹3,024, while in Kolkata the price has risen from ₹2,208 to ₹3,202. The sharp rise has been linked to global fuel price fluctuations and adjustments by state-owned oil companies.
Restaurants and businesses hit hard
The increase is expected to affect restaurants, hotels, and small eateries that depend heavily on commercial LPG for daily operations. Industry observers say many businesses may be forced to increase food prices to offset rising fuel costs, adding pressure on consumers.
Domestic LPG prices remain unchanged
Aviation sector gets temporary relief
In a separate development, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines have remained unchanged. State-owned oil companies reportedly absorbed global price increases to support airlines and prevent fare hikes, according to IndianOil.
Petrol and diesel prices stable
Retail prices of petrol and diesel have also remained unchanged across the country, with no revision announced in the latest cycle.
New LPG booking rules introduced
From 1 May, the interval between LPG bookings has been revised. Consumers can now book cylinders after 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas. The system will automatically block early booking attempts before the eligible window.
