About the Founder

Vivek Bhavsar is a senior political and investigative journalist with over three decades of experience across English and Marathi media. He is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of TheNews21, an independent digital news platform focused on investigative journalism, governance, and public accountability.

A science graduate with a diploma in Business Management, Bhavsar began his journalistic career as a freelance reporter in 1988 and entered full-time journalism in 1992. Over the years, he has worked with leading English and vernacular dailies including The Asian Age, Free Press Journal, Lokmat, and Saamana, covering a wide range of beats from public policy and urban issues to political reporting.

Based in Mumbai, his reporting has largely focused on Maharashtra’s governance and administrative processes, particularly policy decisions taken at the Mantralaya. He is known for his investigative work on infrastructure, land acquisition, and public-interest issues.

Bhavsar’s investigative reporting on the proposed multi-storey petrochemical project at Nanar in the Konkan region exposed serious irregularities and played a key role in bringing public scrutiny to the project, which was eventually scrapped. His work continues to focus on accountability, transparency, and public-interest journalism.
