The Khelo India Wushu Center in Handwara delivered an outstanding performance at the 19th UT Wushu Championship, bringing pride to the region with an impressive medal tally.
Out of 21 athletes who participated in the competition, 12 athletes secured medals, reflecting their dedication, discipline, and consistent training.
Gold, Silver and Bronze Winners
Among the top achievers, Mahvish Rashid and Pakeeza Qureshi won gold medals, leading the team’s success.
Silver medals were secured by Sartaj Sofi, Momin, Kasir, and Saniya Kursheed, showcasing strong performances across categories.
In the bronze category, Zakir, Zahnab, Aman, Taha Bin Bashir, Basit, and Danish also made their mark, contributing to the overall medal count.
Coach’s Role Behind Success
The athletes credited their success to the guidance and dedication of coach Ajaz Hassan, whose training and mentorship played a key role in preparing the team for the championship.
Support from Sports Authorities
The team expressed gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council for providing quality infrastructure and equipment that helped athletes train effectively.
They also acknowledged the efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Wushu Association for giving young players a platform to compete and showcase their talent at higher levels.
