Kashmir: IPS officer Divya D, Superintendent of Police, has been awarded the prestigious Gallantry Medal (GM) in recognition of her courage, dedication and exemplary service in Jammu and Kashmir.
During her tenure as Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Divya D played a significant role in several successful counter-terrorism operations, demonstrating strong leadership, operational expertise and an unwavering commitment to duty. Her tenure witnessed major successes against several A++-category and other top-ranking terrorists, contributing significantly to strengthening the security environment in the region.
Apart from counter-terrorism operations, the officer has also been associated with several high-profile and sensitive investigations. As Superintendent of Police with the State Investigation Agency (SIA), she led the breakthrough investigation into the decades-old Sarla Bhatt rape and murder case. The investigation involved a detailed review of old records and forensic evidence and culminated in the filing of a comprehensive 737-page charge sheet.
Throughout her career, Divya D has demonstrated a combination of operational courage, investigative acumen and effective leadership. Despite handling some of the most challenging and sensitive cases, she is also known for her humble, approachable and down-to-earth personality.
The Gallantry Medal recognises her bravery and dedication in the line of duty, as well as her significant contributions to counter-terrorism, criminal investigation and public service in Jammu and Kashmir.
