Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday described the Mega Job Fair at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, as a transformative initiative aimed at connecting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with meaningful employment opportunities. He asserted that the region’s young population is the driving force behind India’s future and the foundation of a developed nation.
Addressing a large gathering of students, job seekers, industry representatives, and academicians, the Lieutenant Governor said the event was not merely about offering jobs but also about giving direction to the aspirations of thousands of young people. He said the overwhelming response to the job fair reflected the growing confidence and ambition among the youth to explore careers across diverse sectors.
More than 50 reputed companies participated in the Mega Job Fair, offering employment opportunities across various industries. Hundreds of students registered for the event, interacting directly with recruiters and exploring career opportunities in the private sector.
Calling the youth the “architects of India’s future,” LG Sinha said every opportunity has the potential to transform lives and urged young people to approach such platforms with confidence, determination, and a willingness to learn.
“You are not only searching for employment, but you are also the architects of India’s future. You are the strength of Skill India, the identity of Digital India and the true pillars of Viksit Bharat,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the primary objective of the Mega Job Fair was to ensure that no talent remained unnoticed, no skill went unutilised, and every deserving young person received an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society through gainful employment.
Highlighting the changing dynamics of the global job market, LG Sinha said academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient for success. He stressed that practical skills, innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning have become essential in today’s competitive environment.
“The present era is not just about earning degrees but about acquiring relevant skills. Those who continuously upgrade themselves and adapt to changing technologies and industry requirements will remain ahead,” he said.
He said the government’s vision extends beyond creating employment opportunities and focuses equally on building confidence, competence, and employability among the youth. According to him, empowering young people with the right skills will enable them to become active contributors to the country’s economic development.
The Lieutenant Governor also urged colleges, universities, and educational institutions to align their curricula with industry requirements so that students graduate with practical knowledge, professional competence, and self-confidence.
“The purpose of education is not only academic success but success in life. Educational institutions must become centres where students prepare themselves to meet real-world challenges,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of stronger industry-academia collaboration, LG Sinha appealed to representatives of the participating companies to work closely with educational institutions in designing skill-oriented programmes and providing exposure to emerging technologies and workplace requirements.
He observed that closer cooperation between industry and educational institutions would help bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment generation.
Stressing that unemployment cannot be addressed through government recruitment alone, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the crucial role of the private sector in creating sustainable employment opportunities. He said Jammu and Kashmir must build an ecosystem where every talented young man and woman gets equal opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and realise their aspirations.
LG Sinha expressed confidence that the Mega Job Fair would emerge as a landmark initiative in Jammu and Kashmir’s employment landscape by opening new avenues for growth, encouraging private sector participation, and inspiring young people to build successful careers through skill, innovation, and determination.
