Tiranga Rallies Across Jammu & Kashmir

People carrying the national flag participated in rallies and patriotic programmes as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The events have brought communities together ahead of August 15 and highlighted the festive atmosphere across the Union Territory.

What Is Happening Across the LoC in PoK?

A contrasting situation has been reported in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK), where demonstrations have taken place over a range of political, economic and governance-related concerns.

Protests have been reported from areas including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Dadyal and Palandri.

The reported grievances include electricity issues, taxation, rising prices, governance, political representation and civil rights. Some demonstrations have also featured demands linked to greater political rights and freedom.

J&K and PoK Show Contrasting Scenes

The developments on the two sides of the Line of Control (LoC) present sharply different scenes ahead of Independence Day.

While people in Jammu and Kashmir have participated in Tiranga rallies and patriotic events, demonstrations in PoK have reflected public dissatisfaction over various political, economic and governance issues.

The contrasting developments have once again drawn attention to the different political and social circumstances being experienced by people on either side of the divided region.
