Srinagar: The Indian Army organized an ex-Servicemen’s Rally at Pohrupet, Handwara, to mark the 9th Armed Forces Veterans Day, honouring the invaluable contributions of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and Veer Matas. The event showcased the Indian Army’s unwavering dedication to supporting its veterans and their families.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of ex-servicemen and families of martyrs. Various assistance booths were set up, highlighting the collaborative efforts of government departments and local institutions to address the concerns of veterans and provide necessary support.
A medical camp was established by Government Medical College (GMC), offering free consultations and healthcare services to attendees. Additionally, representatives from the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries departments provided guidance on farming techniques and government initiatives aimed at boosting rural livelihoods.
Key officials, including representatives from the Civil Administration (ACR Kupwara, Tehsildar Handwara), Veterans Sahayata Kendra, and Zilla Sainik Welfare Office (ZSWO) Kupwara, were present to address grievances and extend assistance to veterans.
The event underscored the deep bond between the Indian Army and its veterans, celebrating their importance to the nation. A spirit of camaraderie and gratitude pervaded the rally as participants shared stories and experiences.
