Srinagar: The Indian Army conducted a Veterans’ Rally on Tuesday at Chak-Kigam Camp, under the aegis of Charkut Garrison, to strengthen its bond with ex-servicemen in the Keegam and Lolab valley regions.

The event aimed to inform veterans about the latest welfare schemes, inspire them to utilize educational opportunities for their children through institutions like Sainik Schools, RIMC, and Military Schools, and reinforce their role as integral contributors to society.

The rally emphasized the enduring responsibilities of ex-servicemen, encouraging them to play an active role in fostering harmony and normalcy in the region. Veterans were urged to guide local youth towards positive and productive engagement, ensuring their integration into the mainstream for the nation’s development.

A total of 132 veterans, accompanied by 30 of their wards, attended the event. Additionally, representatives from 18 departments set up stalls to provide assistance and address grievances. Key services included medical and dental consultations, CSD card renewal, mobile number and address updates, and financial services from HDFC Bank and SBI Bank. The JAK LI Records Office also facilitated the veterans with necessary support.

A cultural program featuring performances by children from Harshan Army Goodwill School (AGS) Krusan added a festive touch to the event. During the rally, the database of veterans was updated to enhance future communication and outreach.

The ex-servicemen expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for its continued support and efforts to address their concerns. The initiative underscored the Army’s commitment to the welfare of its veterans and their families.
