LG Speaks to DC Ganderbal, Health Officials; Directs Best Medical Care for Injured Devotees Undergoing Treatment at SKIMS
Srinagar: At least 39 Amarnath pilgrims were injured after a bus met with an accident in the Ganiwan area of Gund in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the situation and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured devotees.
A senior official told news agency JKNS that the Amarnath Yatra bus, bearing registration number AR11 D5655, lost control near Hari Ganiwan, skidded off the road, and plunged into a deep gorge.
Rescue teams, including the Police, SDRF, and local volunteers, immediately rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
Officials said around 39 pilgrims sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to Kangan Hospital for initial treatment.
According to officials, two of the injured suffered head trauma but are in stable condition, while all the other injured passengers are also reported to be stable.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha posted on X: “Spoke with Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal and health officials and inquired about the health condition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims injured in the unfortunate road accident earlier this morning at Ganiwan, Ganderbal. 39 pilgrims returning after Darshan of Baba Barfani sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS. I have directed the health officials to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care. I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees.“
