New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of openly distributing cash and gifts to sway voters ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, while claiming that no FIRs have been filed against the party leaders for these actions. His comments came shortly after an FIR was filed against AAP leader Atishi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.

In a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that BJP leaders were openly distributing cash, gold chains, and other items to the public, particularly in certain colonies, in an attempt to buy votes. “We have got to know that they (BJP) have started to distribute gold chains to the public now. They have done this in two colonies. Their leaders are openly saying that they will buy the votes of the people of Delhi,” Kejriwal said.

He further urged the public to take the gifts being distributed by BJP leaders but warned them not to sell their votes. “Don’t vote for anyone who distributes money, jackets, blankets, etc.,” he added, urging voters to stay firm against such practices.

Taking to social media platform X, Kejriwal continued his attack on the BJP, claiming, “Their leaders openly distribute money, sarees, blankets, gold chains and get fake votes made, yet not even an FIR is registered. But an FIR is immediately registered against Chief Minister Atishi ji.”

Kejriwal also expressed frustration over what he termed the “rotten system” in Indian politics, calling out both the BJP and Congress for being part of the same flawed system. He emphasized that AAP was fighting against this system and aimed to bring about significant change with the support of the people of Delhi.
