Srinagar: Keeping in view the problems arising in the livestock farming and pets, Indian Army at Naugam conducted Veterinary Camp with a view to address the economically backward people who are not able to get their livestock checked by veterinary doctors. The camp focused on providing free check-ups and medicines for the health of the cattle.
A team of doctors led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Veterinary Kupwara – Dr Shabir Ahmad, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Antisar Ahmad, Dr Javed Ahmad Khan, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon and Bilal Ahmad Lone were part of the veterinary camp.
The camp commenced with an awareness lecture for the health care of animals. A total of 113 animals along with their caretakers availed the benefits of the veterinary camp. The animals included 68 cows, 08 oxen, 16 horses, 09 goats and 12 sheep benefitted from the initiative.
The local poor farmers could not afford to carry their injured and sick livestock to the nearby veterinary hospital as they could not afford transportation costs. The locals were very thankful and overwhelmed for such an initiative from the Indian Army.
