Srinagar: Based on specific intelligence input Indian Army was on alert and was carrying out searches along the main roads for suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED). On Friday at about 11.45 am a suspicious cylindrical metal object connected to a battery by wires was noticed lying along the culvert of the road leading from Kupwara to Kalarooch.
The area was immediately cordoned off, jointly by troops of the Indian Army (41 Rashtriya Rifles – 41-RR),140 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) & Special Operations Group (SOG) (Kupwara Police). In order to save the lives of locals and avoid any untoward incident, traffic was halted on the road.
