‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’: Five Moments That Had Marvel Fans Going Wild in Theatres

Spoiler Alert: This feature discusses major plot points from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, including its post-credit scene.

Noida: Four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home rewired the multiverse and erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, Tom Holland returns as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

Rather than relying solely on multiversal spectacle, the film returns to Spider-Man’s street-level comic roots, blending emotional storytelling with high-octane action. Along the way, it delivers several moments that have audiences cheering in theatres.

Here are five of the film’s biggest crowd-pleasing moments.

1. Sadie Sink’s Mysterious Debut

For months, Marvel fans speculated about Sadie Sink’s role after the Stranger Things star was cast in an undisclosed character.

The film keeps the mystery intact until well into the story, gradually revealing her as the mysterious antagonist capable of controlling people’s minds and using them to infiltrate the Department of Damage Control.

When the reveal finally arrives, it confirms what many fans had predicted—Sink plays a young Jean Grey, whose powers spiral out of control following a personal tragedy.

Critics have praised Sink’s performance, noting that her emotionally layered character offers far more depth than a typical franchise introduction.

2. Spider-Man vs Hulk

Although the trailers teased the confrontation, few audiences expected the Spider-Man-Hulk battle to be this intense.

After Jean Grey takes control of Bruce Banner’s mind, Professor Hulk transforms into the uncontrollable Savage Hulk. Peter struggles to stop him, using webs and quick thinking while Frank Castle joins the fight from the sidelines.

Reviewers have described the sequence as one of the film’s standout action scenes.

Its emotional payoff comes during the climax when Hulk has Spider-Man at his mercy. Peter quietly says his own name, triggering what many fans interpret as a brief moment of Bruce Banner regaining control before Hulk lets him go. Marvel has not offered an official explanation for the scene.

3. A Suit Inspired by Three Generations of Spider-Man

Long before the film’s release, Spider-Man’s new costume generated considerable discussion among fans.

Instead of another Stark-tech upgrade, the costume features raised webbing, a hexagonal texture and colours reminiscent of both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man suits.

Tom Holland has described the design as “a homage to all three” cinematic Spider-Men during the film’s promotional campaign.

4. The Handshake That Fans Won’t Forget

One of the film’s most emotional moments arrives near the end.

After Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, Peter unexpectedly meets Ned again. Although Ned no longer remembers him, the pair instinctively slip into their old secret handshake.

When it ends, Ned pauses, looks at Peter and quietly says his name.

Fans and critics have widely interpreted the scene as suggesting that emotional memory can survive even when literal memories have been erased, although the film deliberately leaves that question unanswered.

5. The Post-Credit Scene

The film’s only post-credit scene is deceptively simple.

Ned’s Spider-Man tracking app detects a new signal before the camera zooms beyond Queens, New York and eventually Earth itself, revealing a lone Spider-Man icon floating in deep space.

The sequence concludes with Marvel’s familiar “Spider-Man Will Return” title card.

Since Tom Holland has not been officially confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, many fan theories suggest the scene could be laying the groundwork for Avengers: Secret Wars and Doctor Doom’s Battleworld storyline. Marvel has not confirmed these theories.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theatres worldwide.
