Srinagar: A medical camp was organized by Indian Army and the civilian administration in Tarathpora as a unique gesture to alleviate hardships of local populace from remote areas of North Kashmir’s Ramhall and Tarathpora Block of Kupwara district. Vilgam Army Camp of the Indian Army and the civil administration came together with shared resources to conduct a medical camp for the local people.
The camp was organized at Tarathpora Panchayat Ghar wherein three Medical Officers and one Dental Officer from the Indian Army, one Gynaecologist, one Orthopaedic Specialist, one Paediatrician and one Medical Specialist from civilian Health Department worked long hours on February 14 to provide medical support to 362 patients which included 103 males, 197 females and 62 children. Besides routine medical check-up, special emphasis was laid on screening people in vulnerable age groups for lifestyle diseases.
Besides medical consultations from the specialist and check-ups, medicines were also provided to the people free of cost. Specialist advice and awareness drive on Covid-19, AIDS, family planning, dental care and immunisation was also imparted. Community leaders expressed their satisfaction and happiness over the initiative taken by Indian Army and civilian administration.
