Kupwara Police Recovered Heroin Worth Rs 50 Crore

Kupwara: Police in Kupwara claimed to have busted a narco-module and making a recovery of eight kilograms of narcotics worth an estimated market value of fifty crores, besides arresting a militant associate here on Sunday.

According to a statement acting on a specific input, Kupwara Police on Sunday busted Pakistan sponsored Narco-militant module and arrested a militant associate.

The statement further reads, 08 Kgs of Heroin worth 50 Crs recovered.

On specific information, Kupwara Police have busted a Pakistan sponsored Narco-militant module and arrested 01 militant associate identified as Mujasir Ahmad Lone S/o Muzaffer Ahmad Lone R/o Karen Bala. Incriminating Material Narcotic substance Heroin 08 kgs (worth 50 Cr. Market value) were recovered from his possession.

The other absconded involved persons have been identified and efforts are being taken to arrest them.

The Module was in close connection with Pakistan based militant handlers and was involved in the drug trade & assisting financially to active terrorists of the Valley. The recoveries also exposed the interconnection between drug dealers and terrorists.

The module was working for militants s to strengthen their activities in the valley and was misguiding and motivating the local youth of the Valley to join militant ranks.

A Case under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and an investigation has been taken up.

Kupwara Police once again appeals to the people of the District to come forward with the information regarding Drug Peddlers/Smugglers so that curative steps can be taken against them.
