Indian Army initiative for employment results in jobs for Kashmiri youths in Kalaroos, Kupwara

Srinagar: The initiative taken by the Indian Army for the employment of Kashmiri youth has begun to pay rich dividends. About 24 Youth of Kalaroos, Kupwara who completed their Diploma in Front Office Management through Hunar Se Rozgar Tak (HSRT) Scheme of which seven are now employed in the Hospitality industry.

The Ministry of Tourism launched a special initiative Hunar Se Rozgar Tak (HSRT) in the year 2009-10 for creation of employable skills amongst youth.

Under the same initiative, Indian Army along with Jammu & Kashmir Tourism department started batches for Front Office Management in Kalaroos, Kupwara. The main aim was to create employable skills among the unemployed youth of Kalaroos and further prevent them from falling prey to the drug menace. 

The first Batch was started in December 2021 at Kalaroos, Kupwara. After screening of the candidates and regular classes of selected students, exams were conducted for the full batch. With their hard work, all students qualified the exams and acquired the skills required for Front Office Management. A total of seven students have already been placed as per their qualifications out of the first batch of 24 students.

A certificate distribution ceremony was held at Kalaroos, Kupwara on March 28 to distribute certificates to the first batch. This batch not just qualified and got the certificate but also set an example for the rest of the students and youth to come forward and get enrolled for such schemes. Parents, relatives and Sarpanches of their villages also came forward and motivated the youth to enhance and acquire new skills which will help them to get employment and will connect them to the stream of nation building.

Fresh batch will be starting in the second week of April and the date for screening will be announced shortly. However, looking at the massive response from the students for getting enrolled in the next batch authorities are planning to increase the strength of the next batch. 

The Indian Army has taken up many such initiatives to enrol students and guide them in the right direction to improve their standard of living and also to make sure that they are not diverted from this path of progress.
