BSF organizes free medical camp and hosts Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programme in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district

Srinagar: The 26th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) organized a free medical camp on Friday under its civic action programme at FDL Meelyal village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The initiative aimed to provide quality medical care and free medicines to underprivileged residents of the area.

The camp was inaugurated by former Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Fareed Ahmed Khan, along with officiating Commandant of the 26th Battalion BSF, SFP Vaifaie, and other officials.

A team of specialist doctors from the BSF and civil medical staff attended to over 250 patients, including men, women, and children, offering consultations and free medicines.

Residents from neighbouring villages praised the BSF for organizing the medical camp in such a remote area. They expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future for the well-being of the locals.

Officiating Commandant Vaifaie emphasized the BSF’s commitment to fostering peace, development, and better relations with the local population. “The aim of such programmes is to build goodwill and extend assistance during challenging times. The 26th BSF Battalion has been conducting community outreach programs consistently and will continue to do so,” he said.

In addition to the medical camp, a special awareness session under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted by local students. They delivered an impactful presentation on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and substance-free life. This initiative aimed to spread awareness among the community, especially the youth, about the need to combat the growing menace of drug addiction.

Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar, Company Commander Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Sumit Thakur (AC/MO 26th Battalion), and Dr. Sreeparna Sahu (AC/MO 127th Battalion) were among the BSF officials present.

The camp also featured civil doctors, including Dr. Owais Ahmad (Psychiatrist), Dr Rameez Nabi (Dental) Dr Nuzhat Medical officer who contributed their expertise to the event.
