New Delhi: In a sharp critique of the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Delhi elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of copying AAP’s welfare policies. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Kejriwal highlighted that the BJP’s promises of “free handouts” mirror the initiatives AAP has long championed.
Kejriwal’s remarks came after BJP President J P Nadda released his party’s manifesto, which includes promises of financial aid for women, free LPG cylinders during festivals, and affordable meals. Kejriwal asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has previously criticized “freebies,” should now admit he was wrong in opposing such welfare measures.
“The BJP has consistently accused us of giving away free handouts. But now, their own manifesto promises the same things,” Kejriwal said. “I urge PM Modi to acknowledge that free handouts are not wrong. They are a gift from God and beneficial for the country. Modi ji should come forward and endorse his party’s promises while admitting that I was right all along.”
Kejriwal further claimed that most of the promises in the BJP’s manifesto are already part of AAP’s governance in Delhi. “If BJP is promising what AAP is already delivering, why should the people vote for them?” he questioned. He also criticized the BJP for ignoring critical issues such as law and order, describing their manifesto as a “bundle of lies.”
