Srinagar: The 174 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) organized a medical camp and felicitation ceremony at Nowgam, Handwara, on Friday, witnessing an overwhelming response from the local community. More than 500 people participated in the event, benefiting from free medical consultations and celebrating achievements in sports and skill development.
BSF doctors, along with local medical professionals, provided free healthcare consultations and treatment to attendees, ensuring better access to medical services in the border area. The initiative aimed to support the well-being of the local population and strengthen community ties.
As part of the event, the BSF felicitated the winners of local cricket and volleyball tournaments. The winning teams were awarded sports kits to encourage youth participation in physical activities. Additionally, 20 individuals who had undergone recruitment training under BSF initiatives were honoured with certificates, recognizing their dedication and achievements.
The event was attended by Commandant of 174 Battalion BSF Vinod Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Handwara, Station House Officer (SHO) Qalamabad, DDC Mawer, and other dignitaries. They commended the BSF’s efforts in community engagement and welfare programs, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering positive relations between security forces and local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Vinod Singh reaffirmed the BSF’s commitment to assisting border communities. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff, media representatives, village heads, and all individuals who contributed to the successful execution of the event.
Local residents appreciated the BSF’s efforts in organizing the medical camp and supporting youth through sports and skill development programs, reinforcing a sense of unity and cooperation in the region.
