Mumbai: Elections for one of the four statutory committees of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the post of Standing Committee and Education Committee Chairman will be held on October 5 and for BEST Undertaking and Reforms Committee Chairman elections will be held on October 6.

Incumbent Shiv Sena president Yashwant Jadhav has been given the opportunity for the post of standing committee chairman for the third time in a row. He has submitted his candidature application to Municipal Secretary Sangeeta Sharma today. Against him, Adv. Makrand Narvekar has filed his nomination papers while Asif Zakaria has filed his nomination papers on behalf of the Congress.

Also, Sandhya Doshi has filed her candidature application for the post of Education Committee Chairperson on behalf of Shiv Sena as a new and exciting face. On the other hand, Surekha Patil from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sangeeta Handore from Congress have filed their nomination papers today. However, considering the front-runners and the Shiv Sena’s strength, it is believed that Shiv Sena’s Yashwant Jadhav will score a hat-trick. Also, Sandhya Joshi’s victory is considered certain.
