“Who Will Take Responsibility?” – Akhilesh Yadav Slams Government Over Security Lapse in Operation Sindoor Debate

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Centre during the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor on Tuesday, questioning the government’s claims of restored peace in Jammu and Kashmir and demanding accountability for the recent terror attacks.

“The biggest question is – who will take responsibility for the security lapse?” Yadav asked, referring to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed several innocent lives. He pointed to the government’s earlier promises made at the time of abrogating Article 370, when it was declared that terrorism in the region would end permanently.

Challenging that claim, Yadav said, “The government which claimed that there would be no terrorist incidents after the removal of Article 370 must now explain how such an attack could take place.”

He also took aim at the government’s decision to implement a ceasefire amid rising violence in the Valley. “What was the reason due to which the government had to announce a ceasefire? We were hoping the government itself would have done it. But instead, they asked a close friend to announce it,” he said, in a veiled reference that drew murmurs from across the House.

His statement triggered a sharp response from BJP MPs, but Yadav remained firm, accusing the government of hiding behind narratives rather than addressing the core issues of intelligence failure and security preparedness.

“The nation deserves to know who is accountable. The government cannot escape by shifting the blame,” he said.
