Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday came out in support of the Maratha quota agitation being spearheaded by activist Manoj Jarange, assuring full backing to the protesters who have gathered in Mumbai.

Thackeray reached out to Jarange over a phone call facilitated by Legislative Council Opposition Leader Ambadas Danve. Soon after, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut amplified Thackeray’s message on social media, underlining his solidarity with the movement.

In a heartfelt appeal, Thackeray urged his party cadre to step in and assist the demonstrators, who have arrived in the state capital despite difficult conditions. “Thousands of our Marathi brothers and sisters have gathered in Mumbai from all corners of Maharashtra. They are facing rain, mud, and hardships while fighting for their rightful demands. The government has failed to even ensure basic facilities,” he said.

Calling the protest a matter of moral duty, Thackeray directed Shiv Sainiks to provide essentials such as drinking water, food, and toilets to the participants. “This is our Maharashtra Dharma. We must stand together with them. Jai Maharashtra,” his statement added.
