In a major crackdown on illegal online betting promotions, the Telangana Police have filed an FIR against 25 celebrities and influencers, including actors Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda, and Manchu Lakshmi. The case was registered at Miyapur police station in Hyderabad following a complaint by 32-year-old businessman Phanindra Sarma.
The celebrities are accused of endorsing and promoting illegal betting apps, which, according to the complainant, misled people into gambling and financial losses. Police are now investigating their involvement and the extent of their promotions.
This case is part of a larger effort by Telangana authorities to curb online gambling, which has been banned in the state. The legal repercussions for those found guilty could be severe, as promoting such platforms is a punishable offense under Indian cyber and gambling laws.
