Srinagar: In a major anti-terror operation, security forces apprehended two suspects with arms, ammunition, and war-like stores in the Bandipora district of North Kashmir, the Indian Army said on Thursday. The arrests came after a joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF Srinagar on March 12 following specific intelligence inputs about possible militant activity in the area.
During the operation at Gandbal-Hajin Road, Bandipora, the forces recovered a pistol, a pistol magazine, two hand grenades, an AK magazine, ammunition, and other war-like materials, raising serious security concerns.
Confirming the development, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army stated in an X post: “On 12 Mar 2025, based on specific intelligence input, a Joint Search Operation was launched by Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF at Gandbal-Hajin Road, Bandipora. During the search, two suspected individuals have been apprehended along with the recovery of 01xPistol, 01xPistol Magazine, 02xHand Grenades, 01xAK Magazine, ammunition & other war-like stores. Further investigation by police is in progress.”
The police have launched an extensive probe to uncover any potential links to terrorist networks operating in the region. This operation is seen as another big success in counter-terror efforts aimed at curbing militant activities in Kashmir. Security forces remain on high alert to prevent any potential threats in the valley.
