Sanjay Raut: “Terrorism Has No Colour, It’s Fueled by Lack of Education and Employment”

New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday addressed the issue of terrorism and Naxalism, urging political leaders and society at large not to communalise or politicise such grave national concerns. He emphasised that the roots of terrorism lie in systemic socio-economic neglect rather than in any religious or ideological identity.

“Terrorism is terrorism — it is neither green, saffron, nor red,” Raut said while speaking to the media. “Some people wrongly try to give it a political colour. Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Adivasis — everyone needs education. Without education, neither the country nor society can progress,” he added.

Raut underlined that the rise of extremist ideologies such as Naxalism can be traced back to basic social failures. “Why do people turn to terrorism? Because they lack livelihood, employment, and education. That’s the reason Naxalism grew,” he said, calling for policy reforms that prioritise inclusive development over divisive narratives.

He also stated that education should be the foremost tool to combat extremism and create a just society. “We need to ensure that no community is left behind. Every child — regardless of religion or region — should have the opportunity to be educated and build a secure future,” he asserted.
