Delhi: The investigation into the Red Fort car blast has revealed a chilling financial web behind the so-called “white-collar terror module,” with officials confirming that the four arrested doctors had collectively raised over ₹26 lakh to fund the operation.

According to officials, the accused — Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, and Dr. Umar Nabi — pooled together cash contributions that were handed over to Dr. Umar for “safekeeping and operational expenses.”

Dr. Umar, a Pulwama native and assistant professor at Al Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad, was reportedly behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, killing several and triggering a nationwide alert.

An investigating officer said, “The funds raised by the group were used to procure around 26 quintals of NPK fertiliser, worth approximately ₹3 lakh, from multiple suppliers in Gurugram, Nuh, and nearby areas. The chemical is a key component in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).”
