Mumbai Metro Line 3 To Run Till Midnight For Ganeshotsav From September 14

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is extending services on the Aqua Line, or Mumbai Metro Line 3, to make travel easier for devotees during the upcoming Ganeshotsav celebrations.

The extended schedule will remain in effect from September 14 to September 25, 2026, allowing passengers to use the Metro until midnight instead of the usual closing time.

Under the revised timings, the last trains from both Cuffe Parade and Aarey JVLR will depart at 12 midnight, giving commuters an additional 90 minutes to travel. The regular last-train departure is 10:30 pm.

The extended service is expected to benefit devotees visiting several prominent Ganesh mandals across south and central Mumbai. The Aqua Line provides connectivity to areas around Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Worli, Mahalaxmi and Girgaon, potentially helping visitors avoid heavy road traffic during the festival period.

With thousands of people expected to travel across the city for Ganesh darshan, the additional Metro services could provide a faster and more convenient alternative to road transport, particularly during evening and late-night hours.

MMRC has also announced provisions for devotees travelling with Ganesh idols. Passengers will be permitted to carry Ganesh idols up to 18 inches (45 cm) in height on the Aqua Line, subject to prescribed safety guidelines.

The move is aimed at making the festival commute more manageable while ensuring that passengers can return home safely after visiting pandals and participating in Ganeshotsav celebrations.

Ganeshotsav is among Mumbai’s biggest annual festivals, drawing large crowds to neighbourhood pandals and major public celebrations. With road congestion typically increasing during the festival, Metro services are expected to play an important role in managing the movement of devotees.

MMRC has urged Mumbaikars to make use of the extended Metro timings and celebrate Ganeshotsav with convenience and safety.
