Srinagar: The Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (ReTTF), district Kupwara, raised serious concerns over the alleged failure of certain treasury officers to release Travel Allowance (TA) payments for teachers who contributed to the YUVA Mission in January and February 2025.
During a press conference held in Handwara, the Forum pointed out the selective disbursement of TA by the treasury officer Langate, who processed payments for some teachers while denying others without valid justification. They also criticized the treasury officer Handwara for reportedly discarding submitted bills without any logical reasoning, an act that the Forum described as highly unprofessional and unacceptable.
The Forum urged the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, to personally intervene and address this issue to ensure justice for the affected teachers.
District President Sheikh Parvaiz, speaking at the press conference, emphasized that while teachers are reluctant to resort to protests, the discriminatory actions of the treasury officers have left them with no other option. He stressed the need for immediate redressal to restore fairness and transparency in the system.
In addition to addressing the issue of unpaid TA, the Forum also appealed to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, to ensure the timely release of March 2025 salaries. With Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, the Forum highlighted the financial challenges teachers face and requested that their salaries be disbursed promptly to allow them to celebrate the festival without distress.
The teachers have expressed hope for swift action from the authorities to resolve these grievances and ensure timely payments moving forward.
