Mumbai : The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has announced the development of a Corporate Office Building at Malet Bunder in the Mumbai Port Area, with in-principle approval from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW). The announcement was made by JNPA Chairperson Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, during a media briefing.
Record Cargo Handling & Expansion Plans
JNPA recently achieved a milestone by handling 7 million TEUs on March 17, 2025, marking significant operational growth. Wagh emphasized that with the completion of Fourth Container Terminal Phase Two, JNPA will be the first Indian port with a 10 million+ TEU handling capacity.
Corporate Office Project Details
The 20+ storey high-rise building will be constructed on a 12,804 sqm (3.16-acre) plot allotted by Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA). It will serve as the corporate headquarters for JNPA and Vadhvan Port Project Ltd (VPPL), along with offices for DG Shipping, IPGL, IPRCL, and allied organizations.

• State-of-the-art 2,000-seater auditorium
• Highest-rated Green Building design
• FSI of 4.0 with a 9 lakh sq. ft. construction area
• Estimated project cost: ₹1,000 crores
JNPA has appointed Engineers India Limited (EIL) for project consultancy, aiming for completion within two years post-approvals.
Government Collaboration & Future Plans
JNPA has offered office space to the state government, which has shown interest. Additionally, JNPA is expanding its Vadhvan Port Skilling Program, recently hosting a Customs Documentation Orientation Program at Palghar, with over 21,000 registrations via its WhatsApp Chatbot.
