Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday raised concerns over discrepancies in the voter list ahead of upcoming elections, urging the Election Commission (EC) to address the issues before polling begins.

Speaking to reporters, Thackeray said, “Election Commission conducts elections, but political parties contest elections, and if the Election Commission doesn’t share the voter list with political parties, then it is not right. We are comparing the voter list and highlighting discrepancies. Until you rectify your voter list, we request that you not conduct elections.”

He added that the party will wait for the EC’s response before deciding on its next course of action. The MNS chief also questioned the role of the Central and State Election Commissions, stating that when asked about additions and deletions of voter names listed on the EC website, “both the Central & State Commissions stated that they were not aware of it and would obtain details and get back. If they are not aware, then who is doing it? They said they will investigate it.”
