Patna: The Janata Dal United (JD(U)), led by Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday released its first list of 57 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, including several constituencies officially allotted to Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The move has heightened tensions between the two NDA allies ahead of the polls.

JD(U) has fielded its own candidates in five key battlegrounds:

Vidya Sagar Nishad (Morwa)

Ratnesh Sada (Sonbarsa)

Kaushal Kishore (Rajgir)

Komal Singh (Gaighat)

Dhumal Singh (Ekma)

These constituencies had been claimed by Chirag Paswan’s LJP-RV, but JD(U) decided to assert control over its traditional strongholds, signaling a direct contest between Nitish Kumar and Chirag Paswan in several areas.

JD(U) leaders cited the need to maintain continuity in their core constituencies, even as the alliance navigates internal seat-sharing disagreements.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14, setting the stage for a high-stakes political battle between JD(U) and LJP-RV in the state.
