Keran: In a significant stride toward sustainable development and empowerment of border communities, Project Roshni was inaugurated in Keran village, introducing clean energy, fuel, and water solutions to residents through a collaborative effort by government agencies and NGOs.

Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the ASEEM Foundation has solarized nine clusters comprising 107 houses, each equipped with two LED bulbs and two power sockets. The initiative includes complete internal and external wiring, solar panels, connectors, lightning conductors, inverters, batteries, power converters, and limiters, ensuring a reliable renewable power supply. This is especially vital during harsh winters, enabling students to study efficiently and families to lead comfortable lives.

In the clean cooking domain, 40 households received functional LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, facilitated by the ASEEM Foundation. Each household was provided with a gas cylinder, double-burner stove, regulator, pipe, and lighter, with documentation coordinated by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion. This initiative reduces reliance on firewood, promotes clean cooking practices, and minimizes health hazards associated with traditional fuels.

To address safe drinking water needs, a Jal Jeevan Mission-supported water filtration plant with a 2,000-litre per day capacity has been established in collaboration with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). The system includes two 2,000-litre storage tanks, a steady water supply network, continuous power backup, and advanced filtration infrastructure, ensuring access to clean water for the local population.

Enhancing both safety and aesthetics, 90 solar-powered street lights have been installed along the scenic Kishanganga River under the Atal Jyoti Yojana, executed by the Rural Development Department. The initiative not only improves night-time visibility but also boosts tourism potential in the picturesque Keran valley.

The inauguration was graced by Smt. Chinta Devi, Veer Nari and wife of Late Nb Sub Chuni Lal, AC (P), VrC, SM, one of the most decorated soldiers of the Indian Army, adding a symbolic touch of valor and inspiration to the event.

Project Roshni, jointly sponsored by the Indian Army, State Government, and ASEEM Foundation, stands as a shining example of collaborative efforts toward inclusive growth, clean energy adoption, and sustainable development in border areas.
