Power War Explodes in Karnataka: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Accuses CM Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar of Horse-Trading to Grab Control

Bengaluru: The political atmosphere in Karnataka turned tense on Sunday as Union Minister Pralhad Joshi made explosive claims accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of engaging in horse-trading to gain upper hand within the Congress government.

Joshi alleged that both top Congress leaders are actively seeking the support of MLAs using money and influence, hinting at a deepening internal rift. According to him, the fight isn’t just for power-sharing, but over who will control the future of the state leadership.

The Union Minister said that while Congress enjoys a clear majority in the Assembly, the leadership struggle has exposed the weak grip of the party’s high command in Delhi. He claimed that the competition between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar is not only hurting governance but also pushing MLAs to weigh their loyalties based on political incentives.

Though Joshi said the BJP has no current intention to destabilize the government, his remarks about “horses being ready for sale and buyers already lined up” sparked outrage among Congress ranks. His comments have added fuel to ongoing rumours about dissatisfaction within the ruling party and possible future defections.
