Police attaches illegal properties worth Rs. 24 Lacs, of notorious drug peddler in Baramulla

Srinagar: Continuing its action against drug peddlers, the police in Baramulla attached properties (double storied residential house worth approx. Rs. 24.00 lacs) belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Mohammad Zahid Shah (Geelani), son of Peer Hussain Shah resident of Basgran, Uri, district Baramulla.

The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No. 54/2022 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Uri.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by the police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) by the drug peddler.

This operation reaffirms the commitment of the police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of the Baramulla police.
