Opposition Protest Over Bihar Voter Roll Revision Is “Hooliganism,” Says Union Minister Giriraj Singh in Parliament

New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched a scathing attack on the Opposition in Parliament over their protest and sloganeering against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. The Minister condemned the demonstrations, calling them acts of “hooliganism and anarchy,” both inside Parliament and across Bihar.

Speaking during the session, Singh said, “The way they are protesting is hooliganism. Hooliganism and anarchy are being spread both in Bihar and Parliament.”

He questioned the Opposition’s intent, pointing out that the voter roll revision is being conducted in full transparency. “When everything is out in the open (with the Special Intensive Revision), what is the issue? Who is being deprived of the right to vote?” Singh asked, emphasizing that no one’s rights are being compromised.

He further criticized the venues chosen for the protests, saying, “It is unfortunate for Parliament. At one time they hold a meeting in a mosque, then protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament.”
