CJI’s Remarks on ED Are in Interest of Democracy, Says Congress Leader Vijay Wadettiwar

Nagpur: Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has welcomed the remarks made by Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai, who cautioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to act within its constitutional limits. Wadettiwar said the judiciary’s observation is a much-needed check on the agency’s alleged misuse by the government.

“We have seen it – the kind of arrogance and high-handedness the ED was showing,” Wadettiwar stated. “The way the ED was acting on the directions of the government, targeting political figures based on political instructions – what the Chief Justice has said about this is definitely in the interest of the country’s democracy and the democratic system.”

The Congress leader accused the ED of selectively acting against opposition leaders while ignoring corruption within the ruling party. He claimed that the agency had turned into a political tool, damaging public trust in democratic institutions.
