Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nitesh Rane in a letter written to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and reminded him about the 123 proposals that are still pending for the consideration of the BMC.

As the earlier Standing committee headed by Yashwant Jadhav had not taken any decision on these 123 proposals. The tenure of all the BMC Corporators has ended, now hence there is no standing committee that will take any decision on these pending proposals. Therefore, Rane has requested the BMC chief to look into these 123 proposals and take the decision.

In his letter Nitesh Rane remarked “So far Chahal was not seen taking any quick decision, when BJP raised its voice, he regretted delays in de-silting of nullahs and riverbeds in Mumbai. After 25 days he passed the pending proposals related to it, which raises doubt in the mind of the common public. On April 6 Chahal had passed some 8 proposals. Why was he doing that silently? The doubt which comes to our mind is pending proposals which Last standing committee did not pass may be due to their setting with contractors did not work out but now you are BMC commissioner and you are administrator so you should examine all proposals carefully and pass it. It gives sense to us that there is some pressure on you from the Shiv Sena party.”

Nitesh further writes “you (Chahal) should not selectively pass the proposals. If proposals are not viable then you should reject them immediately but bypassing selective proposals gives the sense that being an administrator you are supporting the Shiv Sena party and their corruption.

On March 7 the tenure of all BMC Corporators ended. Last February BMC election was supposed to happen but due to the reserved ward quota row in the local body, the election was postponed hence administrator was appointed to BMC. Now all decisions are being taken by the administrator who is Iqbal Singh Chahal, who is an IAS officer and the BMC municipal commissioner.
