Mumbai: A Mumbai Police team on Monday visited a studio in Khar where the YouTube show India’s Got Latent was filmed, following outrage over controversial remarks made in an episode. The controversy stems from comments by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who appeared as a guest on the show.

A formal complaint has been lodged against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, and the show’s organizers. The complaint, filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, alleges the use of abusive language and demands strict legal action.

Reacting to the controversy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated, “I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others.” He added that violations of societal norms must be addressed legally.

Former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma also condemned the remarks. “The video is very shocking. Whether male or female, such jokes are unacceptable in society. Making jokes about a mother or a woman’s body reflects a moral decline among today’s youth,” she said.
