Handwara police arrest two drug peddlers, seize contraband substances from their possession

Srinagar: In a continued effort to combat drug-related offenses, Handwara police apprehended two alleged drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police checkpoint was set up at Champora Crossing, where officers intercepted two individuals identified as Mohammed Gulzar Mir, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir, a resident of Amargarh Sharkoot, and Faisal Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, a resident of Manzgam. Upon conducting a personal search, authorities recovered 62 grams of a substance resembling Charas.

Both suspects were subsequently taken into custody and transferred to Villgam police station for further investigation. A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and a thorough inquiry is underway.

Handwara police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics or other criminal activities. Citizens can report such incidents at their nearest police station or by calling the emergency helpline at 112. The police assured that stringent legal action would be taken against those involved in drug-related offenses to ensure a drug-free society.
