Digital India & UPI expansion – the achievement of India’s digital economy under Modi’s leadership

Srinagar: Over the past decades in the fields of modernization and development, India has gone through a change in numerous sectors be it science and technology, Agriculture and Education, Healthcare and Technology Innovation, Renewable energy, Foreign Investment and other sectors of the economy.

India has remained on the forefront at the world level and has contributed massively in the rapid development. Being the largest country in the world with a massive population of over 1.4 billion has been able to bring all the modern facilities to each and every corner of the nation, which testifies the fact that India under the leadership of visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi has witnessed multidimensional development in almost every field.

India has undergone a mesmerizing change in the field of science and technology and in several other sectors. The digitalization in the contemporary era has changed the face of the world globally in every field. India has seen spectacular development. The government’s continuous efforts in bringing about the digitalization in the country has been remarkable, the utilisation of the Smartphones, Internet facilities has played an essential role.

The Government of India, under the magnificent leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sincerely and passionately worked towards digitalization and modernization. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working courageously towards making the nation a manufacturing hub by bringing about the digitalization in every field.

Pertinently, The Digital India Campaign was launched on 1 July 2015, by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it both utilizes and assists other Government of India schemes, such as BharatNet, Make in India, Start-up India, Stand-up India, industrial corridors, Bharatmala Sagarmala and Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Atmanirbhar Bharat. This initiative under the leadership of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi focuses on good infrastructure, and to reinforce internet availability, and to make a brighter future. The initiative mainly focuses on the given important aims. 

1) Granting a digital infrastructure as a source of utility to each of its citizens.

2) Better Governance and Compatibility. 

3) Work towards improving digital empowerment to all of its citizens. 

4) Empowerment of societies and knowledge. 

5) Promotes e-Services and e-Commerce for the betterment and welfare of the citizens. 

The goals enlisted are the key factors behind the evolution of the digital system in the country. To grant fast-network connectivity to the rural areas and to improve the lives of the rural areas is the foremost aim of the initiative led by the Government of India. The Initiative led by the Government of India “Digital India” is aimed with ‘Power to Empower’.

It is a comprehensive initiative and is based on digital infrastructure creation, digital expansion of services, and digital proficiency. The Initiative also focuses on “Providing High Speed internet connectivity in all the gram panchayats and timely access to CSC centres and to make the lives of the general public comfortable and easy. Some of the notable achievements of Digital India.

1) Bharat Net Project – In this age of instant gratification, modernism has led to the evolution of several new techniques which create ease to the people everywhere in the world. Similarly, to meet the network connectivity to each and every part of the rural areas (gram panchayats) the Government of India led the Bharat Net Initiative. This initiative, under the Ministry of Communications, has been made to meet the needs of the rural areas as those of urban areas. 

2) Aadhar- Biometric System: – With the invention of these initiatives in the country, several new techniques took place, electronics became the top most priority under this initiative. Over 1.3 billion enrolments are there under the biometric system in order to create ease and eliminate the hardships of the people in both rural as well as urban areas.

3) Common Service Centres (CSC’s):- Basic and essential services are being provided to all the people whether in the distant areas as well as in rural areas. Each and every service is being provided to the people for their welfare and overall development. 

4) Digital Literacy: – Digital literacy has also played a key role in bringing about all-round development to the people. Besides, there have been several other benefits from these initiatives which cannot be counted, modern digital facilities like digi-locker, My Gov, UMANG etc have made it easier for the people to be more stable and prosperous. 

The expansion of UPI: beginning of the Digital Payments. 

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), emerged multidimensional, a real-time payment system allowing users to transfer money by using back accounts through a mobile platform. It is one of the phenomenal contributions in the digital payment system under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has brought a revolution, as it is secure, easy to use and can be used anywhere anytime. As per the estimation “By 2024, UPI had crossed 10 billion monthly transactions, making it one of the most prominent used automated payment systems in the world (APS). All this has happened under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, their dedicated efforts have brought a revolution to the nation and there is much to come yet to put India at the global level prosperous and stable in every field.
