Mumbai: Major fire breaks out in building in Fort area; one injured

Mumbai: A massive fire broke out in a building at Fort on Wednesday evening. A man identified as Deepak Dildar (22) sustained burn injuries to 30% -40%. Dildar was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

According to the information received, a fire broke out in the ‘Bahubali’ building at Fort, Kavasji Patel Road around 7 pm on Wednesday. This caused a stir in the area and a crowd of onlookers gathered.

The exact cause of this fire is not understood. Upon learning of the fire, the fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot and started the search and rescue operation. However, the fire broke out at around 7.33 pm and later escalated to level 2.

While the fire brigade was trying to extinguish the blaze, but suddenly at ! 10.30 pm the fire increased and fire brigade declared it to level 3.

Five fire engines and five jumbo water tankers were brought into use to control the fire. Fire brigade managed to control the fire at around 1.30 am late at night. However, the cause of the fire was unknown and further investigation will ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

On Wednesday, this was the second fire incident in the city. Early morning on Wednesday, a fire erupted in a building in Worli, but no casualty was reported in that incident.
