Mumbai: The Urban Development Minister and Shiv Sena leader, Eknath Shinde has adopted two four-year-old children who survived from the Mahad building collapse incident. Shinde has accepted to take entire responsibility of giving a good future and upbringing up of the Mohammad Bangi and Ahmed Sheikhnag, who lost their entire family in the incident.
After 18 hours of tireless efforts the rescue squad was able to safely rescue Mohammad, Bangi out of the heap of debris. However, his mother and siblings lost their lives in the incident. Ahmed Sheikhnag escaped unhurt when the building collapsed, but his family was not lucky enough to survive.

Shinde on Tuesday had announced that Shiv Sena will take care of the two children who survived but got orphaned in the incident. Dr Shrikant Shinde Foundation will adopt them and we will bear the entire financial expense of both the children who lost their family. Rs 10 lakh for each will be kept in the fixed deposit in the names of both the children for their bright future. The responsibility of the education of both the children will be taken by the Dr Shrikant Shinde Foundation.
Upon hearing the news of the tragic incident, Eknath Shinde rushed to the spot and expedited the rescue operation. Shinde deployed two teams consisting of emergency squads and fire brigade from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
“80 per cent socialism and 20 per cent politics was the teaching of our respected late Shri Balasaheb Thackeray to Shiv Sainiks and we follow it. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena is still following the same principles”, said Shinde.
