“Looters Are Returning Money”: PM Modi Launches Sharp Attack in Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong political attack in West Bengal on Saturday, claiming that people who had allegedly misused public funds were now being forced to return the money and face legal action. Speaking during the Paschimbanga Divas celebrations in Hooghly district, the Prime Minister said accountability was finally catching up with those who had benefited from corruption.

Modi Claims Bengal Is Entering a New Phase

Addressing a large gathering, Modi said West Bengal was witnessing a fresh wave of development and confidence. According to him, the state had suffered for years due to policies that slowed growth and pushed many residents to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The Prime Minister argued that the atmosphere in Bengal was changing rapidly and that people were now looking at the future with renewed hope. He said the state was moving towards progress and development after years of challenges.

Strong Remarks on Corruption

In one of the most talked-about moments of his speech, Modi alleged that individuals who had looted public money were now being compelled to return those funds. He also stated that legal action was being taken against those found guilty of wrongdoing.

The remarks are expected to intensify the political battle in West Bengal, where corruption allegations have become a major issue ahead of future electoral contests.

Border Security Issue Raised

The Prime Minister also brought up the issue of border infrastructure, claiming that important land transfers required for border fencing had remained stalled under an earlier administration. He said the process gained momentum only after changes in governance and stressed the importance of securing India’s borders.

₹18,880 Crore Released to Farmers

During the event, Modi released the 23rd installment of the PM-Kisan scheme, transferring more than ₹18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmers across the country.

The move was presented as part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen rural incomes and provide financial support to farmers.

Big Push for Bengal Farmers

A major announcement from the event was the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in West Bengal. The crop insurance scheme is expected to benefit nearly 50 lakh farmers and provide protection for agricultural produce worth more than ₹28,000 crore.

Officials believe the scheme could offer significant relief to farmers facing risks from natural disasters and crop losses.

Rail and Road Projects Unveiled

The Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several infrastructure projects. Railway projects worth around ₹590 crore were announced, while dozens of rural road projects covering more than 315 kilometres were dedicated under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The projects are aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic activity, and creating new opportunities across different regions of West Bengal.

Political Message Ahead of Future Battles

With sharp comments on corruption, development, migration, and governance, Modi’s speech carried a strong political message. His remarks are likely to fuel fresh debates in Bengal’s political landscape as parties gear up for upcoming electoral challenges.
