Patna: The family of BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz, who was martyred in cross-border shelling by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector on May 10, will receive a compensation of ₹50 lakh, the Bihar Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced on Monday.

According to the statement issued by the Bihar CMO, “The family of BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz will be provided ₹29 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and ₹21 lakh from the state government. A total of ₹50 lakh will be given to his family.”

Sub-Inspector Imteyaz, a native of Bihar, was killed in the line of duty while guarding the international border during unprovoked shelling by Pakistani forces. The tragic incident has evoked widespread grief and outrage, with tributes pouring in from across the country for the brave jawan.

The financial support is part of the Bihar government’s commitment to honour the sacrifice of soldiers from the state and to assist their families in times of distress. Officials said additional support, including government job assistance to a family member and educational help for his children, is also under consideration.

Political leaders across party lines have paid tribute to the fallen hero, praising his courage and devotion to duty. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to meet the bereaved family during his visit to Siwan, the home district of the martyr.
