New Delhi: Amid ongoing political debate over the recent cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, senior Congress leader and MP Jairam Ramesh has called for greater transparency and accountability from the Modi government. Speaking to a news agency on Monday, Ramesh demanded an all-party meeting in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with a special session of Parliament to discuss the matter in detail.

“I won’t comment on the statement made by Sharad Pawar,” Ramesh said, referring to the NCP chief’s remarks on the ceasefire, “but all opposition parties want an all-party meeting in which PM Modi is present. He should listen to us and reply to our questions. A special session of Parliament should also be called.”

Ramesh’s remarks reflect growing concern within the opposition camp about the government’s handling of sensitive foreign policy developments, particularly in the absence of consultation with key political stakeholders. The demand for an all-party meeting signals the opposition’s insistence on being taken into confidence over decisions that have strategic and national security implications.

The call comes days after former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed credit for the truce between India and Pakistan — a claim that has already stirred controversy in Indian political circles.
