Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for repeatedly disrupting the discussion on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha, saying the conduct of one individual affected the entire House.

Speaking to reporters, Rijiju said the debate had started on a positive note in the Lok Sabha and was also conducted smoothly in the Rajya Sabha. However, he claimed that proceedings in the Lower House could not continue as planned due to repeated interruptions linked to Rahul Gandhi.

The minister expressed disappointment that a key parliamentary discussion was stalled, pointing out that many Members of Parliament from the Congress and other opposition parties were prepared to participate constructively. According to him, their opportunity to speak was lost because of continuous disruptions.

Rijiju said Parliament functions on collective responsibility and discipline, and no single MP should derail proceedings meant for national discussion. He added that several opposition MPs regularly raise meaningful issues and offer valuable suggestions, but their voices were drowned out due to chaos.

Taking a sharp swipe at the Congress leader, Rijiju remarked that while Rahul Gandhi may struggle to present arguments effectively, he should not obstruct others who want to contribute to the debate. He urged Gandhi to reflect on his actions and show restraint so that Parliament can function smoothly.
