BJP MP Ravi Kishan has stepped up his attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as political activity increases in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly election.
Speaking in Gorakhpur on Monday, September 21, Kishan criticised the Opposition’s attempts to connect with Brahmin and OBC voters. He also questioned the political messaging being used by the Congress and Samajwadi Party.
Responding to questions about an OBC-related law and the Opposition’s electoral strategy, Kishan said Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav could try different political moves, but claimed such efforts would not change voters’ decisions.
Ravi Kishan’s ‘P’ remark on Brahmin outreach
A major part of Kishan’s remarks focused on the Opposition’s outreach to Brahmin voters.
Taking a swipe at the political use of the letter “P”, Kishan said, “P” stood for “parivarvaad” rather than “Pandit”.
He further said, “पूरे पंडितों-ब्राह्मणों को पता है कि ‘पी’ से परिवारवाद होता है,” according to reports of his remarks.
Kishan argued that Brahmins should not be treated simply as a vote bank and said the community would make its own political choices.
“ब्राह्मणों को आप वोट बैंक समझेंगे? ब्राह्मण वोट बैंक नहीं है,” he said.
His comments came amid efforts by political parties in Uttar Pradesh to expand their social outreach ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls. Akhilesh Yadav has previously used the letter “P” while discussing the PDA political formulation and referring to Pandits or Brahmins.
Kishan claims Congress-SP face tough 2027 election
Kishan also made a political assessment of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election, claiming that the Congress and Samajwadi Party would perform poorly.
He said the BJP would work towards improving on its 2017 performance and focus on its organisation ahead of the election.
The BJP MP also criticised Opposition leaders over what he described as political attacks and AI-generated videos targeting BJP leaders. He claimed that Opposition parties were focusing on political statements instead of development issues.
These remarks represent Kishan’s political assessment; the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election has not yet taken place.
Rahul Gandhi remarks also draw criticism
Kishan also criticised Rahul Gandhi over comments concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother.
The BJP MP said remarks involving the mother of a deceased person were inappropriate and accused the Congress leader of using the issue for political purposes.
He also alleged that the Congress had lost public trust because of its political conduct. These were Kishan’s allegations and were not independently established in his remarks.
Attack on former Vice President Hamid Ansari
Kishan also turned his attention to former Vice President Hamid Ansari over recent remarks concerning Hindus.
He said Ansari had occupied a senior constitutional position and should therefore be careful about the impact of his statements.
Kishan said people had respected Ansari because of the office he held and claimed that his recent comments had disappointed some sections of the public.
UP election battle increasingly focuses on caste outreach
Kishan’s comments come at a time when political parties in Uttar Pradesh are increasing their outreach to different social groups ahead of the 2027 Assembly election.
The BJP MP’s remarks specifically targeted attempts to reach Brahmin and OBC voters. The Samajwadi Party has also been discussing changes and additions to its PDA messaging, including the use of “P” for Pandit or Brahmin.
For now, the political debate is centred on how parties will build their social coalitions and present their messages to voters before the election.
Kishan said the BJP would continue to focus on its organisation and on the development agenda associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

KISHAN PREDICTS OPPOSITION DEFEAT
Kishan claimed that the Samajwadi Party and Congress would perform poorly in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections. He said the BJP’s focus was on breaking its 2017 electoral record.
He also criticised what he described as Opposition statements and AI-generated videos targeting BJP leaders. Kishan claimed such activity reflected frustration among Opposition parties and accused them of failing to focus on development-related issues.

Kishan also criticised former Vice President Hamid Ansari over remarks concerning Hindus. He said Ansari, who served as vice president for two terms, should be mindful of the impact of his statements given the position he previously held.
Kishan said people had respected Ansari because of his constitutional position and claimed that his recent remarks had caused disappointment among sections of the public.
His comments came after a series of political exchanges in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with parties increasingly focusing on caste outreach and competing political narratives.
Kishan also claimed that the BJP would remain focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s development agenda. He said the party’s organisational machinery was preparing to take its message to voters ahead of the election.
