Srinagar: The tehsil administration Handwara, in collaboration with Handwara police, conducted a joint market inspection to enforce compliance with market regulations, curb overpricing, and ensure the availability of quality essential goods for the public.
The inspection drive was led by Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan Ahmad Khan, along with SHO Handwara, Sofi Vilayat, Naib Tehsildar Handwara Manzoor Ahmad, and officials from the Municipal Committee. The team inspected various establishments, focusing on pricing, quality of goods, and adherence to regulatory norms.
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Zeeshan Ahmad Khan highlighted the importance of such initiatives in safeguarding consumer rights and promoting market transparency. “We are committed to ensuring that traders adhere to regulations to protect the interests of the public,” he stated.
The joint team took note of several irregularities and issued warnings to violators, emphasizing the need for accountability. The drive also aimed to foster awareness among traders about their responsibilities toward consumers.
The tehsil administration has reiterated its commitment to conducting regular inspections in the future to maintain accountability, discipline, and fairness in the market.
