Mumbai: In a scathing editorial published in its mouthpiece Saamna, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of ignoring critical national issues to focus entirely on the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The editorial alleges that the BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other central ministers, has prioritized defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over addressing pressing challenges facing the country.
According to the editorial, the schedule for the Delhi Assembly elections, with voting on February 5 and results on February 8, has triggered an all-out campaign by the BJP to wrest control of the assembly. The editorial accused the BJP of resorting to extreme measures to secure victory in Delhi, asserting that “the BJP’s goal is to defeat Arvind Kejriwal and take control of the Delhi Assembly.” It criticized the ruling party for its alleged neglect of serious issues such as the infiltration of Chinese forces in Ladakh, continued violence in Manipur, Naxal attacks in Chhattisgarh, and rising crime rates in Maharashtra.
The editorial further alleged that the BJP’s approach is focused solely on electoral success, stating, “All in all, the BJP’s policy seems to be that focusing on these serious issues is foolish, and defeating the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi is the most important matter. The BJP has decided to go to any lengths to achieve this.” It concluded with a sharp critique of the party’s priorities, accusing it of sidelining national interests in favor of political gains.
